GAA:Following the failed experiment of presenting the Liam McCarthy Cup to All-Ireland SHC winners Kilkenny on the Croke Park pitch, the GAA confirmed today that the post match presentation for Sunday's football final between Kerry and Cork will take place in the Hogan Stand.
The GAA were forced to abandoned their pitch presentation plans at the hurling final and reverted to “plan B” back in the Hogan Stand after crowd control became impossible.
Ahead of Sunday’s final “the Association has urged all patrons to remain off the field at the end of the game in the interest of the health and safety of players, officials, stewards and spectators”.
On pitch presentations were originally intended to form part of the 125th celebrations to allow spectators a better vantage, while affording the winning team the opportunity to complete a lap of honour.
The GAA still intends to make Sunday’s minor final presentation on the pitch.
