Signs have been placed at the Cliffs of Moher by Clare County Council in conjunction with the Samaritans to deter people contemplating suicide from taking their own lives at the location.
Earlier this year, Samaritan volunteers and council officials walked the site to identify the most appropriate locations for the erection of the signage.
Director of the Samaritans in Co Clare, Mary Lynch, said: "we have tried to make the signs visible, while being conscious that it is a very sensitive and beautiful area."
One sign states "24 hours, 7 days, One Number" with the Samaritans phone number, while another states "Who Cares - We Do", with another sign asking "Need to Talk?".
Ms Lynch said: "the signs are there to say that we're here.
The signage is small and we have been sensitive to the matter and to the area."
The move by the council and the Samaritans follows a scheme by Irish Water Safety to identify suicide blackspots in a bid to prevent people taking their own lives by drowning.
Special messages stating "You Are Not Alone" and giving contact details for the Samaritans are being posted alongside lifebuoys in areas known to be frequented by people with a suicide wish.
Last year 131 people lost their lives in Irish waters - the lowest number since 1965.
The suicide prevention programme is a collaborative project with the Department of Psychiatry in University College Dublin.
