Another nine people have died in Hong Kong after contracting SARS, while a similar number have also been reported dead in China.
A total of 10 new cases of the disease have been recorded in Hong Kong, health officials said today.
The new deaths brought the territory's death toll from Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) to 179, with 1,621 cases.
The number of new cases announced today was the lowest daily figure since the outbreak here in mid-March. One of them was a medical worker.
Meanwhile, China has announced it has also nine new deaths from SARS. There were 181 new cases.
The country's death toll now stands at 190 with 3,971 cases.
Five of the new deaths were in the capital Beijing, as were 114 of the new cases.
With the new deaths, the death toll in the capital reached 96 with 1,741 cases.
