Police in west Belast are investigating following the theft of large gates from a girl’s school in the St Catherine’s Road area of the city.

A police spokeswoman said the gates worth an estimated £1,500 were stolen in the early hours of this morning sometime between 12am and 8am.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact police at Grosvenor Road.

Meanwhile in Bangor a large quantity of steel worth between $15,000 and £20,000 was stolen from an industrial estate over the weekend.

The thieves broke into a container at the Balloo Industrial estate sometime between 6pm on Friday and 8am today and stole the metal.

A police spokeswoman described the steel as a specialised metal used for drilling equipment.

She said anyone offered the metal for sale or who witnessed the incident is asked to contact them.
