A classroom has been destroyed in an arson attack on a Catholic school on the outskirts of south Belfast. It is the seventh time in the past 10 years that Rathmore Grammar in Dunmurry has been targeted.
A window was broken before rags, soaked in flammable liquid, were set alight and thrown into the school on Sunday night.
The French classroom on the ground floor was badly damaged. Equipment and pupils' work were destroyed.
The school's principal, Sister Ursula Canavan, said that the attack was "very upsetting". A large fence had been erected at the school in an attempt to stop such incidents.
"It is very disappointing that, no matter what kind of fencing you have, if people are determined to attack your school, they will attack," she said.
Fire doors, which had been fitted after the last serious attack three years ago, prevented the blaze from spreading.
Ms Patricia Lewsley, an SDLP Assembly member, said: "It is appalling that people would set out to cause disruption and damage to a school building."
