A schoolboy charged with murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of a Leaving Certificate student last May was returned for trial to the Central Criminal Court yesterday.
The 17-year-old, who cannot be identified because he is a juvenile, was charged with the murder of Seán Nolan, at Waterloo Road, Dublin.
A charge of producing a ten-inch bread knife and a six-inch kitchen knife during a dispute was withdrawn last week on the application of the State.
Seán Nolan (18) Griffith Court, Fairview, Dublin died following a row on May 26th. His mother was present at the Children's Court yesterday as Judge Ann Ryan ordered that the boy accused of her son's killing was to be returned for trial.
The accused boy, who was accompanied in court by his father, has already been served with the book of evidence.
Dressed in a white shirt, black trousers and jacket, and a navy blue tie, the south Dublin boy, who is on bail, spoke once during the brief proceedings yesterday.
He replied "yes" indicating that he understood when he was notified by the judge that if he intended to use an alibi as part of his defence, he must notify the prosecution within two weeks.
The teenager then entered into a bail bond to await his appearance during the next term of the Central Criminal Court. Legal aid has been granted for junior and senior counsel representation.
