LIVERPOOL - A factory worker, Steven Heaney, was jailed for life yesterday for the murders of two schoolboys, Paul Barker and Robbie Gee, on a fishing trip. The 37 year old bachelor changed his plea to guilty to murdering Paul (13) and Robbie (12) when he faced Liverpool Crown Court for trial yesterday.

The trial judge, Mr Justice Ognall, told him. "You put a brutal end to two innocent young lives. The medical reports indicate that you are fully responsible for what you did. But in the light of your actions on that day, and indeed days before and all the surrounding circumstances, there must be a profound anxiety as to the continuing risk you present if ever consideration is given to your release from custody."
