This is tied in with a series of interviews which Stannard conducted/conducts on Radio 4 with scientists, theologians, philosophers, psychologists and journalists. There are many of these, representing many disciplines, and their views are intertwined and contrasted, rather than each having his or her allotted set piece in turn. Questions about belief in an afterlife, the creation of "artificial intelligence", genetic inheritance, the nature of consciousness, are answered frankly and lucidly, but often rather tentatively the general impression given is that scientists, like the rest of us, have more questions to raise than answers to supply.
