Scottish Radio Holdings the owners of Today FM and a number of Irish provincial newspapers reported a fall in profits in the six months to the end of March.

Pre tax profits fell by 27 per cent to £5.7 million sterling in the six months to the end of March. SRH blamed the ongoing weakness of the advertising market for the fall-off in profits.

The group's Irish titles continued to perform strongly. According to the JNLR listenership revealed that Today FM's audience increased by 20 per cent in the six months ending in April.

In March SRH concluded the purchase of the Longford Leaderand add this to our stable of weekly newspapers in Ireland. The group's Score Press division now publishes 40 local weekly newspapers.
