HERITAGE CAMPAIGNERS who want to save the site of Ireland’s oldest brewery, Beamish and Crawford in Cork, will approach high profile figures in a bid to attract support for their efforts.
Last month Heineken announced its plan to close the brewery in Cork city. The brewery, which has a striking mock Tudor frontage, is set to close in March. A committee of 25 has been set up in an effort to transform the site, which is a protected structure.
The committee plans to approach Michael Flatley, singer- songwriter John Spillane, entertainer Billa O’Connell and others.
