The search for a 13-year-old boy who fell from a dinghy into Lough Trosan, near Carna, Co Galway, was called off at 9 p.m. last night and was due to resume at first light today. Another boy who was with him raised the alarm about 6 p.m. yesterday.
A rescue service boat sent from Clifden and a Shannon-based helicopter were at the lake at Callowfeenish shortly after 7 p.m. There were difficulties launching the rescue boat and a local boat began searching the lake. Gardai, three divers and local people were also involved in the operation.
