The search for missing Cork boy Robert Holohan has been called off for the night. Over 500 volunteers joined in the hunt for the 11-year-old today.
Earlier today Gardaí in Midleton, who are investigating Robert's disappearance appealed to anyone who was at the East Cork Golf Club or Driving Range on Tuesday afternoon (January 4 th) last to contact them if they have any information to offer.
Robert's BMX bicycle was found nearby and it is believed there were a number of people using the club or range that afternoon, especially between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.
A Garda spokesman said people may have seen something of significance, but may have forgotten it or believe it is not relevant.
Garda teams and volunteers spent the day searching for the boy as fears for his safety continue to mount. Yesterday detectives from the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation joined the hunt for Robert.
The Irish Timesreported that Gardaí have also begun speaking to a number of registered sex offenders in the east Cork area to eliminate them from their inquires.
Robert left his home at Ballyedmond in Midleton, at 2.30 p.m. on Tusday. He talked to his mother on his mobile phone that afternoon. His new BMX bicycle, a Christmas present, was found lying against a hedge not far from his home.
Midleton Gardaí have also issued a photo ( above) of a phone similar to one believed to be in Robert's possession.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Gardaí at Midleton on 021 - 4621550.
