Meanwhile, the search continued yesterday off the Cork coast for a fisherman who has been missing since Tuesday morning.

Naval divers joined the extensive sea, air and land searches for the man yesterday evening.

The alarm was raised when the fisherman, who left Schull Harbour on Tuesday morning in a 21-foot half decker boat, failed to return home in the evening. His boat was later found off Calf Island.

Searches last night focused on Goat Island, off Schull, where the fisherman kept lobster pots.
