THE mercurial painter Mick Mulcahy was in a mellow mood at the opening of his new show at Noelle Campbell Sharpe's gallery on Stephen's Green. He has spent the past three months in Kerry staying with Noelle - "he came for three weeks and simply stayed," she said somewhat resignedly.
The Dublin exhibition was his way of thanking Noelle all proceeds are going towards her Cill Rialaig building fund.
The Kerry county manager Paddy d'Arcy and his wife Miriam came up to Dublin to perform the official opening and the tiny gallery was wedged with people for most of the evening.
The one time publisher turned rock band manager and art patron is planning a move back to the capital in the very near future. "I've been working completely voluntarily for four years now and it's time to start earning some money," she explained. All Noelle will say about what she intends to do is that it will be "something interesting in publishing".
Meanwhile Mulcahy, a self described nomad, is off today to his new base in Paris for a brief stop over before heading off to Syria on a painting expedition for four months.
