Officers from Revenues Customs Service have made a second seizure of khat in Dublin airport.
The consignment of 526 kgs of the drug originated in London and was destined for New York.
The value of this afternoon's seizure is approximately €1.27 million, bringing the total value of the drug seized over the past 24 hours to €2.5m.
The first seizure of the drug occurred yesterday afternoon, also in Dublin Airport, where €1.3million of the drug was discovered.
No arrests have been made, and the Gardai are still investigating.
Khat is a highly addictive drug, classed as an amphetamine, originally from the Middle East, but now available across many parts of Africa and Asia.
Khat trees are grown interspersed between coffee trees.
Earlier today Gardaí arrested two men following the seizure of amphetamines yesterday valued at €100,000 in Co Laois.
Both men, according to Gardaí, are from Clara, Co Offaly and are being detained under section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Offences Act.
The drugs were discovered in open ground in Ballythomas, the Heath, Co Laois.
Both men are still being questioned and can be held for up to seven days under the Act.
