A fresh outbreak of sectarian rioting broke out in east Belfast last night.

Rival mobs launched petrol bombs at each other across the peaceline separating the loyalist Cluan Place and the nationalist Short Strand.

Police said around 200 people were involved in throwing various missiles, although no injuries were reported.

The area has been the scene of bitter confrontations for months. Thirteen PSNI officers were injured in clashes with nationalists in the area in recent days.
