A man caught with heroin valued at £50,000 had his sentence adjourned to July 28th by Judge Elizabeth Dunne at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Karl Dempsey (22), of Hermitage Glens, Kells, Co Meath, and originally from Stanaway Road, Crumlin, Dublin, pleaded guilty to possession of heroin with intent to supply on October 2nd, 1998.

Det Garda Frank O'Neill, of the Garda National Drugs Unit, arrested Dempsey in the Mill Shopping Centre, Clondalkin, on the basis of confidential information. Dempsey had taken a black plastic bag out of his pocket, thrown it on the floor, and attempted to run away. The bag contained about five ounces of heroin.

Judge Dunne adjourned sentence pending reports from the Coolmine Drugs Rehabilitation Clinic.
