Paddy Quilligan (29), 43 Rath Oraigh and 64 Mitchels Crescent, a father of eight, was jailed for 14 months for criminal damage, affray, and possession of a slashhook, and a further 10 months, to run concurrently, for possessing a shotgun. He was “recognised as the leader of the Quilligan faction”, Insp Martin McCarthy told the court.

Myles O’Neill (21), 19 Ballinorig Close, Tralee – described in court as “a trusted lieutenant in the Quilligan clan” and very involved in the hierarchy on the Quilligan side – was given a 20-month sentence for having a slash hook and a chair leg, for causing criminal damage, and for assault and affray. He was fined €1,500 for other offences.

Patrick Mc Carthy (29), 19 Fountain Court, Tralee, was jailed for 16 months for possession of two weapons, two counts of causing criminal damage, and for affray. He was fined €1,000 and disqualified for two years for dangerous driving. He was also fined €300 for assault.

Michael McCarthy (32), 19 Avondale, Carlow town, described as one of the leading figures, was jailed for five months for having an iron bar and for affray. He was given a seven-month suspended sentence for damaging a car.

Thomas Coffey (19), of 26 Muing, Tralee, was jailed for 13 months for causing malicious damage at Killarney Garda station and for having a knife.

Martin Quilligan (25), 3 Mitchels Road, Tralee, received a 12-month sentence for having an iron bar and a double-bladed knife, and for affray.

Denis Fitzgerald (23), of 16 Lee Drive, Ballinorig, was jailed for 12 months for having a kitchen knife, for two counts of criminal damage, and was fined €1,250 on other offences.

Michael Quilligan (30), of Mitchels Road, was jailed for 12 months for affray and for possession of a Stanley knife, and was fined €750 for a public order offence.

Tony Quilligan (22), Cahereens West, Castleisland, was jailed for 10 months and disqualified for 10 years for driving without insurance. He was fined €1,600 on other offences. Three other men were given eight-month sentences, five others six-month sentences and two others five- and four-month sentences respectively.
