Sentencing of two Limerick brothers for the manslaughter of their sister's boyfriend, has been adjourned until March because an over-stretched probation service cannot provide a report this month and because the Central Criminal Court can only sit in Dublin.

In the Central Criminal Court yesterday John Murray (26), of Clarina Park, Ballinacurra-Weston, Limerick and his brother, Gerard Murray (19), of Garryglass Avenue, Ballinacurra-Weston, were remanded on continuing bail until March 1st after Mr Justice Kinlen found he could not take a Central Criminal Court sitting in Limerick, where he will be on circuit in February.

Earlier, Mr Brendan Nix, prosecuting, had told him a probation and welfare report would not be ready until February.

John and Gerard Murray had each pleaded not guilty to the murder of Edward Waters (19), formerly of Columcille Street, King's Island, Limerick, at the home of their sister in Clarina Park on December 1st 1997.
