A man and woman are to be sentenced later this month at Trim Circuit Court for drugs offences linked to the death of the model Katy French. Judge Michael O’Shea has set February 19th as the date for evidence and sentencing in the case.
When Kieron Ducie (42), Lamberstown Manor, Kilmessan, Co Meath, and Ann Corcoran (32), Tolka Road, Clonliffe Road, Dublin, appeared at Trim Circuit Court on November 13th last, they admitted that between 6pm on December 1st, 2007, and 10am on December 2nd, 2007, they procured another man, Russell Memery, to possess cocaine for the purpose of sale or supply to another.
The same court was told that a second charge against the pair was being withdrawn. That charge alleged that on the same dates at Lamberstown Manor, Kilmessan, they intentionally or recklessly engaged in the supply of cocaine to Ms French and failed to get medical assistance in a timely fashion, which created a substantial risk of death or serious harm to another.
An adjourned sitting of the same court yesterday was told by Carl Hanahoe, prosecuting, that the sentencing could proceed during this session of the court and Judge O’Shea set February 19th as the date to hear the evidence in the case and for sentence to be imposed.
Ducie and Corcoran were remanded on continuing bail. Two years ago, Memery who had been living at Yellow Clay Manor, Navan, became the first person to be charged in connection with the death of Katy French.
Memery was given a 2½-year suspended sentence at Trim Circuit Court after pleading guilty to having conspired to possess cocaine for the purpose of sale or supply to another between 11pm on December 1st, 2007, and 3am on December 2nd, 2007.
The court heard that he had received €200 when he gave cocaine to another person at the Statoil service station Clonee.
Ms French died in hospital a number of days after she had collapsed following a house party in Co Meath. A postmortem found traces of cocaine in her system.
