Tennis:Serena Williams apologised today for her expletive-laced tirade at a lineswoman during her US Open semi-final loss to Kim Clijsters.
"I want to sincerely apologise first to the lineswoman, Kim Clijsters, the USTA (US Tennis Association) and mostly tennis fans everywhere for my inappropriate outburst," she said in a statement.
"I'm a woman of great pride, faith and integrity, and I admit when I'm wrong."
Williams was fined €7,200 on Sunday and could face further sanctions after an investigation was launched into her angry tirade when a foot fault was called on her during the semi-final on Saturday.
