Cork hurling sensation Setanta O'hAilpin is set to accept a contract offer from Australian Rules side Carlton early next week and ply his trade as a professional sportsman Down Under, reports today suggest.
On Thursday, O'hAilpin was named, along with his brother Sean Og, as an All-Star on the 2003 Vodafone team. He also picked up the Young Hurler of the Year award but was not present on Friday night to collect the accolades at the gala banquet in Dublin's City West Hotel.
Carlton have confirmed they are prepared to offer the Corkman a contract and added that he had trained with the squad. Reports suggest the 20-year-old, who was born in Australia, will sit down with Carlton officials on Tuesday night, following further training session on Monday and Tuesday morning, to discuss a move to the Melbourne club.
