Needle and the damage
When the former South Korean president Roh Tae-woo was admitted to hospital with a bad cough, medics discovered a stray acupuncture needle had lodged in his right lung. Roh, a 78-year-old who served as president from 1988 to 1993, was released from Seoul National University Hospital on Monday after the 6.5cm needle was removed during surgery. “I can’t figure out how the needle got into there,” said the hospital’s Dr Sung Myung-whun.
