Seven people, including three children, have been taken to hospital following a four-vehicle collision near Athlone, Co Westmeath.
The crash occurred at Ballybeg on the N61 between Athlone and Roscommon at 1.30pm.
The injured were removed from the scene to hospitals in Portiuncula, Tullamore and Mullingar.
A spokeswoman for the Health Service Executive (HSE) said all the injured were in a stable condition. Two adults and a child were brought to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe, two more children were brought to Mullingar and two adults were assessed at hospital in Roscommon.

The road was sealed off by gardaí and diversions were put in place.
