Seven people, including one landowner, appeared before Baltinglass District Court yesterday on charges of illegal dumping in west Wicklow.
The charges relate to a 47-acre site at Whitestown, Baltinglass, owned by Mr John O'Reilly.
The seven were: Mr Pat Fitzharris, The Rockary, Knocklyon, Dublin; Mr Nevil Watson, Kilmurray, Trim, Co Meath; Mr Laurence Creighton, Kill, Co Kildare; Mr Anthony Dean, Woodhaven, Milltown, Dublin; Mr Louis and Ms Eileen Moriarity, Griffith Avenue, Dublin.
They were charged with disposing of lorry loads of waste at Whitestown without being authorised by waste licence.
They were further charged with disposing waste in a manner likely to cause environmental pollution.
Mr John O'Reilly faced charges relating to illegal dumping on his land.
Garda Supt Tom Mulligan sought an adjournment in order for the book of evidence to be prepared.
He described the task as "intricate and complicated".
Judge Murrough Connellan adjourned the case to the court on March 3rd
