The seven year old boy who fell from the rear emergency door of a Bus Eireann school bus on Monday is said to be "critical but stable" in Sligo General Hospital this afternoon.
Seán Bruen, from Ballinafad, Co Sligo, fell from the bus shortly after being picked up for the journey to Corrigeenroe National School.
The bus in which he was being carried was not fitted with seat belts. There were approximately 20 pupils from the Boyle and Ballinafad areas on-board when the accident happened.
Examinations by Bus Éireann and members of the Garda Public Service Unit found the bus to be in perfect working order, according to a Bus Éireann spokeswoman.
