Police in Vietnam today said they had interviewed a second girl under the age of 13 who alleged she had sex with former rocker Gary Glitter.
The 11-year-old girl, from the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, told investigators she met Glitter at his rented home in the seaside city of Vung Tau this summer.
Glitter (61), whose real name is Paul Francis Gadd, is being detained for at least three months in Phuoc Co prison under suspicion of engaging in obscene acts with child, a charge that carried a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison.
Police have already questioned six females in connection with the case.
Glitter, who has denied all allegations, has not been formally charged in court. Sexual contact with someone under the age of 18 carries varying penalties in Vietnam, depending on the charge.
The maximum punishment for child rape is death by firing squad, and police have said sex with a child under 13 is considered rape.
