A severe weather warning has been issued by Met Éireann for today as the snow combines with freezing temperatures to create dangerous driving conditions.

Motorists have been advised by the AA not to make any unnecessary journeys, particularly on back roads and sheltered areas.

The ESB has reconnected power to more than 10,000 homes in Co Cork and Connemara this morning following high winds overnight.
