Gardaí in Co Galway are investigating a sexual assault on a woman in a late-night attack at the weekend.
The incident happened in Glenamaddy in the north of the county. Gardaí have appealed for witnesses who were in the town between midnight and 5am on Sunday.
The location of the alleged assault has not been disclosed, although detectives carried out an inspection at a pub in the town on Sunday morning.
“An alleged assault was reported to us here and we are following a number of lines of inquiry into the incident,” said a garda.
“We are particularly interested in anybody that might have been spotted on the Kilkerrin-Clonberne and Dunmore roads to get in touch.” Anyone with information is asked to call Dunmore Garda station on 093-38131 or Tuam Garda station on 093-24202.
