A 68-year-old man who faces a total of 117 charges of indecent assault and buggery, involving four boys, which allegedly took place between 1963 and 1980 in a Co Galway village, was granted bail at Galway District Court yesterday.
The married man, who cannot be identified to protect the identity of his victims, was in custody after being arrested and charged by Det Gardai Mick Moran and Pat Heskin. In reply to all of the charges the accused said he had nothing to say.
Supt Mick Curley asked to have the case adjourned until April 24th, as a book of evidence would be required. This was granted by Judge John Garavan, and the accused was remanded, on his own bail of £1,000 and one independent surety of £5,000, to appear before the court again in April.
