A former care worker at Oberstown House, in Lusk, Co Dublin, has told a jury that allegations against him of sexually abusing a detainee 20 years ago were made up.
The 56-year-old defendant has denied charges of indecent assault, gross indecency and buggery in 1980 and 1981. Dublin Circuit Criminal Court has been told the buggery is alleged during a camping trip. The man has said he never went on the trips because he was on holiday.
He accepted he was in Co Wicklow with the boy at some time as there was a record of it but he didn't recall it.
The now 35-year-old alleged victim has said he was given two years detention when he was 14 for stealing cigarettes from a newsagents.
