Sinn Féin has called on the British government to call off all military intelligence operations that undermine the Northern Ireland peace process.

In a 17-page document on collusion between the security forces and Loyalist paramilitaries, Sinn Féin called for the disbandment of the Joint Services Group, which it said was the new name for the Forces Research Unit.

Sinn Féin Policing spokesman Gerry Kelly said that the document, which was handed to the Taoiseach on Saturday, detailed the involvement of British intelligence and Special Branch "in the murder of citizens across the island".

He said: "These agencies continue to operate and are intent on destabilising the peace process".

Sinn Féin's document also backed calls for independent public inquiries into allegations of security force collusion in the killing of Belfast solicitor PatFinucane in 1989 by the Ulster Freedom Fighters and Rosemary Nelson in Lurgan by loyalists in 1999.

The party also backed demands for an inquiry into the killing of Portadown Catholic Robert Hamill, who was kicked to death by a loyalist mob.

The Sinn Féin document was published following a succession of allegations in recently about the activities of the alleged British Army spy Stakeknife in the IRA.

West Belfast builder Freddie Scappaticci has denied claims he was Stakeknife and spied on the IRA while serving as a member of its internal security unit.
