Sinn Féin has called for representation in the Dáil for politicians elected in the North.
The party published a document entitled The Ireland of the Future - National Representationin which they call for representation in the Dáil of the 18 Westminster MPs elected in the North.
The All-Party Oireachtas Committee on the Constitution produced a report last year that recommended an enhanced role in the Oireachtas for politicians elected in the North. The report was shelved, however.
Mr Caoimhghin Ó Caoláin TD, who is the Sinn Féin leader in the Dáil, today said he had "repeatedly called on the Taoiseach to act.
"The time for action is now and it is long overdue. Recently the Taoiseach said he agreed with the Committee's recommendation that MPs should have the right to speak in the Dáil. That was welcome but we need a proactive engagement by the Taoiseach with all the parties to make this happen," he said.
Sinn Féin is also calling for reform of the Seanad to include election by a national list system, with people in the North having the right to vote. The party is also calling for the right for citizens in the North to vote in presidential elections.
