Cricket: England captain Paul Collingwood believes his side "set the benchmark" after beating Sri Lanka by 65 runs to level the one-day series at 1-1 in Dambulla.
Owais Shah scored 82 off 92 balls to help England claim a famous triumph and earn their first one-day international victory in Sri Lanka for 25 years.
Shah's composure helped England recover from a shaky 61 for four to reach a competitive 234 for eight before Sri Lanka were dismissed for 169 to seal the 65-run triumph.
Collingwood said: "Obviously we were disappointed with the first game when we got comprehensively beaten.
"Today the boys showed a lot of character, bounced back really well and set the standard tonight. In all dimensions of the game they were fantastic.
"Obviously it was a good toss to win and we got a good 230 runs on the board, Owais had a magnificent innings. Then we took the early wickets to put them under pressure.
"We really set the benchmark tonight."
Collingwood's opposite number Mahela Jayawardene admitted there is room for improvement for Sri Lanka.
"I thought 230 was a good score for us to chase down but losing too many wickets up front didn't help the cause.
"The fielding was one of those things, it wasn't up to the mark but it is all in a day's work and we'll make sure we work hard and come back strong for the next one."
Man of the match Shah, meanwhile, believes he is reaping the benefits from an extended run in the side under Peter Moores.
"It's all about putting some performances in and getting a run in the side," he said.
"If you can get some runs and put some performances together and keep doing the right things, things can work out well for you."
