Shamrock Rovers will play their remaining 'home' games of the current eircom League season at Tolka Park, the club confirmed today.
Rovers were evicted from Richmond Park by St Patrick's Athletic following crowd trouble after a recent Bohemians match, a move which left the club frantically searching for another home from home.
Rovers, without a permanent home since the closure of Glenmalure Park in 1987, subsequently played their last two 'home' games at UCD's Belfield Park and Turners Cross in Cork but the Dublin club today sealed a deal with Shelbourne to see out the remainder of the season at the Drumcondra venue.
Since their departure from Milltown in 1987, Rovers have played at Tolka Park, Dalymount Park, the RDS, Morton Stadium and Richmond Park.
The club, however, remain hopeful of playing matches in their new Tallaght stadium next season. Rovers officials are believed to be very close to finalising a deal to get builders back on-site and finish construction work on the stadium.
Rovers, who announced the move on their official website, are not scheduled to play at Tolka Park for another two weeks when they will face Derry City. Their next two league games are away to Longford Town and Waterford United respectively.
Meanwhile, Waterford United have announced that manager Jimmy McGeough will be joined by assistant manager Giles Cheevers and under-21 assistant Richard O'Connor to form a new Team Management Committee at the club.
