Tennis:Former world number one Maria Sharapova marched into the French Open semi-finals with a 6-0 6-3 win over German 15th seed Andrea Petkovic.
Three-times Grand Slam champion Sharapova, who has yet to lift the Suzanne Lenglen Cup, raced into a 6-0 2-0 lead before Petkovic threatened a comeback. But the seventh-seeded Sharapova broke again for 4-3, held serve and wrapped it up with another break when Petkovic netted a routine forehand.
The Russian will face Li Na for a place in Saturday's final after the sixth-seeded Chinese beat Belarussian fourth seed Victoria Azarenka 7-5 6-2.
Australian Open runner-up Li broke serve in the 12th game to pocket the opening set on court Philippe Chatrier.
She broke fourth seed Azarenka's serve again to open a 4-2 lead in the second and sealed the win on her opponent’s serve on her third match point.
