The British Prime Minister Mr Tony Blair will today hold talks with Israeli Prime Minister Mr Ariel Sharon about the ongoing conflict with the Palestinians.

Mr Sharon will stop off at Downing Street en route to discussions in Washington with US President Mr George W Bush.

US Middle East envoy Mr William Burns held talks yesterday with Palestinian leader Mr Yasser Arafat over the fragile ceasefire between the two sides.

The ceasefire, brokered by US CIA director Mr George Tenet, came into effect 10 days ago. But since then seven Palestinians and six Israelis have died in continuing bloody exchanges.
