Management salaries will rise rapidly this year driven by strong labour demand and pressure to keep up with the high paying technology sector, says a survey by financial consultants Watson Wyatt.

Salaries for top management in Ireland are predicted to increase by an average of 6.6 per cent this year, the survey says.

The use of bonuses is widespread throughout the private sector, the survey says. About 85 per cent of firms offer bonuses to general management and 82 per cent offer bonus packages to senior managers.

Middle managers can expect an average bonus of 20 per cent of their basic salary, claims the survey.
