Shatter names new Legal Aid Board

A new Legal Aid Board has been appointed by Minister for Justice Alan Shatter.

Chaired by solicitor and director of the Free Legal Advice Centres Muriel Walls, other members are Oonagh Buckley from the Department of Public Expenditure, Oonagh McPhillips from Justice and Ger Power from Social Protection. Two staff representatives are Mary Dalton and John O’Gorman.

Also on the board are Kate Hayes of the outgoing Civil Legal Aid Board; Joy McGlynn of the HSE; Donncha O’Connell, law lecturer at NUIG; solicitor Philip O’Leary; barristers Micheál O’Connell and Michelle O’Neill and Rob Reid of UCD’s college of business and law.
