Manchester - The wife of Harold Shipman, the British family doctor jailed for murdering 15 patients and suspected of hundreds more deaths, said yesterday she believed he was innocent.
Ms Primrose Shipman (54) was testifying in public for the first time at an official inquiry into her husband's murderous career. The mother-of-four gave little away at the hearing, repeatedly answering questions by saying she could not remember.
The inquiry, which could last into 2003, aims to find out exactly how many people died under his lethal syringe of morphine and how he escaped undetected for so long.
