Chicago: A bus driver working for the ecologically minded Dave Matthews Band could face prosecution on charges of dumping the vehicle's load of human waste off a Chicago bridge onto a tour boat, police said yesterday.

The effluent splattered passengers on an architectural boat cruise passing underneath the bridge the afternoon of August 8th, sending the boat back to its dock and some of the disgusted passengers to the hospital for tests.

The possible criminal charges against the bus driver follow a civil suit brought on Tuesday against the band and its tour bus operator by the Illinois attorney general.

Police at a news conference showed an image of the bus taken from a security camera trained on the bridge spanning the north branch of the Chicago River near downtown, and said it was the only bus to cross at the time of the incident. It is illegal to dump waste into the already polluted river.

Bangkok: A wannabe Bangkok governor has been kicked out of the city hall race because her troupe of scantily clad female supporters broke election rules by being too raunchy.

The Bangkok Post said yesterday that Leena Jangjanya, a rank outsider who promised voters cut-price bus fares, had caught the attention of Thailand's Election Commission over an August 18th parade featuring women "dressed in an extraordinary fashion".

Such displays of "boisterousness with intent to woo voters" were in breach of both electoral and constitutional laws, the English-language newspaper said.

Ms Jangjanya, one of 15 candidates, has appealed, insisting the women strutting their stuff had only given the impression of dancing because the pick-up truck on which they were riding was wobbling.

New York: A woman has filed a $2 million suit against a restaurant after she ate a salad that was finger-licking bad.

Marina Andriynannikova said she chomped on a human fingertip while eating the takeaway from Rue 57 Brasserie. Ms Andriynannikova said she got the takeout from the restaurant and enjoyed it - until she "bit on something hard".

"At first, I didn't realise what it was. Then I noticed a nail and some flesh," she said. The suit filed in Manhattan Supreme Court charges the restaurant with negligence.

China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) is donating 90,000 specially designed outfits to sheep in Ulsen Banner, China's main production base for Ordos fine wool.
