Singer Brendan Shine on UK drink-driving charge

Irish country music star Brendan Shine has appeared in a British  magistrate's court charged with drink driving.

Irish country music star Brendan Shine has appeared in a British  magistrate's court charged with drink driving.

The 56-year-old singer and accordion-player from Ballinasloe, Co Galway, was arrested by police in Wigan, Greater Manchester on March 19th. He was in the middle of a major charity tour in the area.

The court heard he was found to have 109 milligrammes in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit in Britain is 80 milligrammes.

The case has been adjourned until June 2nd for further tests on the sample he provided to the police.
