A long-running attempt by two elderly sisters to prevent the sale of their Dublin home for £400,000, estimated to be one-fifth of its present value, resumed at the High Court yesterday.

Ms Eileen and Ms Rose Blackhall, of Blackrock, Co Dublin, have been in the Circuit Court, High Court and Supreme Court frequently in proceedings relating to the house at Marino Park, Blackrock.

In the High Court yesterday a building company, Chessington, Ltd appealed a Circuit Court decision blocking the sale of the property to it. The sisters are joint owners of the house with their sister-in-law, Ms Iris Blackhall, the widow and administrator of the estate of their brother, Gerald Blackhall.

Three years ago in the Circuit Court, Judge Liam Devally found that by allowing years to pass before even tendering a £40,000 deposit, the developers were in breach of a section of the contract of sale, nullifying it.
