SIPTU has recommended that its members working in Aer Lingus accept the proposals released by the LRC last week for the survival of the struggling airline.

The Union said, however, that the restructuring proposals should be accepted only on condition that all redundancies are voluntary.

The Labour Relations Commission proposals will now be put to a vote. All unions must complete balloting their members by Friday, December 7th under the LRC proposals.

Last week the board of Aer Lingus reacted positively to the LRC proposals, but asked the company’s management to seek clarification on a number of what it describes as "core issues critical to the company’s viability under the plan".
