At least six people were killed and 40 were missing when a boat capsized on a swollen river in the eastern Indian state of Bihar today, police said.
Officials said the boat, with 46 people on board, was sailing on the Kankai river. "So far we have recovered six bodies. A search is on for the others," Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Singhal said.
Boat accidents are common in India, especially during the monsoon season, which runs from June to September.
