A number of businesses were forced to shut down in July over breaches of food safety legislation.
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) said closure orders were served on six premises, including a branch of the popular Abrakebrabra fast-food chain in Temple Bar, Dublin.
Orders were also served against First and Fast Chinese Take Away, Castle Street, Co Roscommon; Munch restaurant, Strand Road, Bray, Wicklow; the Village Hotel (the bar and the sandwich bar in reception area remain open) at Tyrellspass, Co. Westmeath.
Elsewhere, closure orders were served on Katie's Kitchen chip van, corner of Jubilee Road and Monaghan Road, Clones, Co Monaghan, and on American Express chip van, Newbliss Road, Clones, Co Monaghan.
A prohibition order was served on Trailercare Holdings Ltd cold store, 41- 42 Robinhood Industrial Estate, Clondalkin, Dublin 22.
FSAI chief executive Dr John O'Brien said the enforcement powers were not used for minor infringements, so it meant that standards had fallen "very low" when health officers had to resort to using them.
"Every enforcement order undermines consumer confidence in food safety which affects not only the premises involved, but the industry as a whole. We are urging all food businesses to adhere to best food safety and hygiene practices," he said.
