Six held following seizure of cannabis worth up to €750,000 in Galway

SIX PEOPLE have been arrested following the seizure of cannabis plants worth up to €750,000 in Co Galway.

SIX PEOPLE have been arrested following the seizure of cannabis plants worth up to €750,000 in Co Galway.

The haul was found during an operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the west of the country. A house in the Tuam area and another in Oughterard were searched by gardaí.

Five men and a woman, ranging in age from their 20s to 50s, were arrested at the two properties.

Four of the men are being detained at Galway Garda station under section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996. The fifth man and a woman are being held at Loughrea Garda station under the same provisions.

Separately, three people have been arrested following the seizure of cannabis plants with an estimated street value of up to €164,000 in Co Wexford.

Gardaí in Enniscorthy carried out a planned search of a house in Glenbrien yesterday afternoon as part of an ongoing operation into the cultivation of cannabis in Wexford. They were assisted by the Wexford Divisional Drug Unit and the Garda National Drug Unit.

A man and woman in their 40s and a man in his 20s were arrested at the scene.
