Six men have been arrested in Co Leitrim in connection with an incident in a Manorhamilton pub on Monday night.
Threats were allegedly made against a couple by a number of men who claimed to be members of the IRA.
All six men are from the Manorhamilton area, are being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, and can be held for up to 12 hours.
Two are being held in Sligo, two in Manorhamilton and two in Carrick-on-Shannon.
A Sinn Féin statement confirmed that two of those arrested were members of the party. It described the charges as "minor" public order offences.
"Apparently this relates to an exchange of words between two groups of people on Monday night and on face value appears to be a minor issue. We are awaiting the outcome of Garda inquiries."
