The 19-year-old man was killed in a one vehicle road accident at Mulranny Road, in Newport. He died when the car he was driving collided with a wall at about 10.40 p.m.

A girl (12) died yesterday after she was struck by a car while crossing a road in Derry. The incident happened at 2 p.m. on the Fincairn Road.

At 5.30 yesterday morning a man in his 30s died after a single-car collision on the Ballinasloe Road near Athlone, Co Westmeath.

Mr Williams Givens of Clogher in Westport, Co Mayo was killed yesterday when his car collided with a parked lorry. The incident occurred at around 4 a.m. in Hollymount.

On Saturday a man in his thirties was killed when his car crashed at Loughanboy, Kilmaine in Co Mayo at around 9.30 p.m. He was Mr Alan Fitzgerald from Kilmaine.

In the early hours of Saturday morning a female pedestrian, Ms Anne Dwyer (30) from Graiguenamanagh, Co Kilkenny, was knocked down and killed by a car in Goresbridge, Co Carlow.
