The Minister for Communications, Dermot Ahern, has published a list of major sporting events which should still be available on terrestrial television in the State.
Topically, the Minister included Ireland's home and away qualifying games in the European Football Championships and the World Cup in the list. Other sporting highlights included were; the All-Ireland Senior Hurling finals and the Irish Derby and Grand National.
However, the Minister said the Government would not be able to facilitate the broadcasting of tomorrow night's Republic of Ireland qualifier against Switzerland at Lansdowne Road. Instead it can be seen on Sky Sports.
One notable omission from today's list was the Six Nations Rugby Championship.
